Texas Rangers

February 5, 1862. Nancy Elly Moore wrote in her diary

As our good Brother was on his way home, he was accosted by the Texas Rangers who had been there the day before and called for dinner after the usual time, the Brethren did not think it best to call on the Sisters, but advised them to go to the Tavern about one mile distant; they did not get dinner here which stirred their ire. They stopped his horses by seizing the bridle reins, Brother Urban asked him why he did so. They replied you did not give us a dinner yesterday. At this junction, there was another soldier on a little ahead, who appeared to be an Officer, by the appearance of the shoulder straps, and hearing the disturbance halted and turned to see what was to pay. The Rangers seeing the halt, cursed Brother Urban at the same time, drawing clenched fist and struck the horse on the head; then dashed off as fast as they could go towards Bowling green, and our good Brother was again at liberty to move on home glad the matter was no worse. (quote from Civil War Diary Quilt book by R. Youngs)

Block 18. Texas Rangers

I foundation pieced Texas Rangers using following fabrics:

green - Mary Rose coll. from Quilt Gate
tan - Plantation 3 by Nancy Gere for Windham Fabrics
white little flowers on white - bought from the Fabric Shack, I don't know the range of it

If you are traveling in the blogworld tonight, you'll find beautiful CWD blocks here. They are all sewed from the CW Tribute fabrics designed by Judie Rothermel.

Have a nice weekend with your blocks...
See you;)
